Father
Son Adventures
5-night Father-Son Adventure
Each 5-night father-son adventure is limited to a maximum
of 12 fathers and 12 sons. Although we refer to this
as a father-son adventure, this is not strictly for
biological fathers and sons, but rather any man with
a heart to be a father-of-sorts to another. It would
also be ideal for a man desiring to develop / enhance
his relationship with his son-in-law, and for other
men in their mentoring of younger men or boys. There
is no upper age limit, however due to the nature of
the outdoor adventures, and the evening presentations
/ discussion themes, a minimum maturity level typically
demonstrated by boys 13 years and over, is required
for registration.
There
is a second core question that every boy is asking,
and if answered negatively, or worse still, not answered
at all, he will continue asking that same question throughout
his entire lifetime… Do I have what it takes?
Do I have the strength, the courage, the gifts, talents,
and the ability, to come through in any given situation?
Whilst we highly commend mothers for their efforts toward
their sons in the absence of Dad, this core question
can only be answered effectively by the father. As the
proverb says, “the glory of sons are their fathers.”
Many men today are either attempting to prove that they
do have what it takes, and becoming driven in their
pursuits, however the majority of men today believe
they don’t have what it takes, and so they shrink
away from those situations that threaten to expose that
fear. They become passive men.
Masculinity is bestowed by masculinity. For a boy to
become a man, there is a journey that he must take.
An invitation into a community of men that calls forth
daring and courage. It’s a journey that requires
testing and challenging… physically, mentally,
emotionally, and spiritually. Equipping today’s
sons / boys / young men, is equipping tomorrow’s
husbands and fathers.
A typical day will involve an exceptional full-day guided
outdoor adventure, and a typical evening will include
a multimedia presentation that will guide each father
& son on their roles in the transitioning of the
son from boyhood to manhood. This experience provides
a perfect forum for a Dad to usher his son into authentic
manhood through a “rite-of-passage” or “vision
quest”.
